Dr Donald Tan, an independent marketing & management consultant, currently sits on several advisory panels including Gerson Lehrman Technology Council and the Society of Industry Leaders. Dr Tan is also an examiner for the professional qualification “Certified Professional Marketer” by the Asia Marketing Federation.

Dr Tan was appointed the lead consultant for the Spring Singapore – MIS SME Marketing Toolkit project, launched in 2011, a Singapore government initiative to help Singapore small & medium businesses to improve their competitiveness with marketing. Dr Tan was also appointed the Chairman for the ASTD STADA Conference 2011 Marketing and Branding Sub-committee.

Previously, Dr Tan held senior positions and was head of marketing & communication for Asia Pacific for a SIX Swiss Exchange-listed company and a US NASDAQ-listed company respectively. He was instrumental in driving business growth in Asia and crafting marketing, communication & branding strategies in the region. During his tenure,Dr Tan received many awards and accolades and was the recipient of several coveted honors including “Outstanding Achievement in Marketing” by the American Marketing Association, “Most Creative Award in Marketing”, “Asia Pacific Vice-President Award” & “Key Contributor Award”.

Dr Tan holds a doctorate in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Western Australia. Dr Tan also received his scholarship to pursue his Bachelor of Business Administration which he graduated with 1st class honors and was awarded the All-American Scholar award by the United States Achievement Academy.

Dr Tan speaks regularly at conferences and seminars globally and has been featured by the media in Singapore, Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong. Dr Tan provides consultation and assistance in marketing, corporate communication, sales and management to companies interested in succeeding in Asia. He also conducts corporate training and personal coaching. Some of his clients, past and present, include Sony, Samsung, Hitachi, ExxonMobil, Matsushia, Inmarsat, Aviva, Sumitomo, Omron, Metallgesellschaft / GEA Group.
